An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, “OK, we will have an experiment in this class on socialism”. All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A…. (substituting grades for dollars – something closer to home and more readily understood by all).

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you’ll ever read and all applicable to this experiment:

1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Humility, Cool-headedness and Patience

An old proverb says ‘‘They are free of fruit that want an orchard.’’ But I say: ‘‘Everyone can have their own orchard!’’

If you place limits on your plans, desires and dreams… you’ll sidestep your own existence.

It’s important to have plans, desires and dreams that have no limits in time or space. The fact is, we never know what our limits really are.

The only way you can define them is by always trying to surpass them. That way your life won’t fall into a routine, which leads nowhere.

Routine creates a false sense of security, by dampening your desire to take risks. I recommend taking risks every day, even if it’s only one, and even if it’s insignificant. Small victories gradually accumulate, and strengthen your willpower to achieve great things.

A victory, even a minor one, is always positive, and enables you to test and surpass your own limits.

You may have lofty ambitions, but you should only take measured risks, and keep them within range of your abilities.

You need to act with humility, cool-headedness and patience.

Humility makes you aware of your possibilities at any given moment. Although your goals may be lofty, humility keeps you focused on the steps you need to take to reach your final objective, which could be life-changing for you, or have a more modest impact.

Being cool-headed means you’re able to control your feelings, and the negative emotions that could make you lose sight of your true path in life. If you can keep a cool head on your shoulders under any circumstances, it will always pay-off in the end, and be a constructive force in your life.

You’ll also need to be patient, and methodically stick to the plans you develope for yourself beforehand, and not deviate from them. Which brings us to our final virtue:

Patience, which is indispensable in any process of transformation, because it’s easy to start something, but much harder to bring it to completion. Being Patient is critical for achieving success.

Be Alert!!!

womanI want to dedicate this post for Women. With recent rise in crimes against women specially in India, the first thought that comes in the mind is how to live a secure life. I came across this article I read on internet giving some guidelines or I would rather say tips. I thought I should share. (By writing this post I do not intend to offend any gender or I do not intend any discrimination.)

1) What should a woman do if she finds herself alone in the company of a strange male as she prepares to enter a lift in a high-rise apartment late at night?

Experts Say: Enter the lift. If you need to reach the 13th floor, press all the buttons up to your destination. No one will dare attack you in a lift that stops on every floor.

2) What to do if a stranger tries to attack you when you are alone in your house, run into the kitchen.

Experts Say: You alone know where the chili powder and turmeric are kept. And where the knives and plates are. All these can be turned into deadly weapons. If nothing else, start throwing plates and utensils all over. Let them break. Scream. Remember that noise is the greatest enemy of a molester. He does not want to be caught.

3} Taking an Auto or Taxi at Night.

Experts Say: Before getting into an auto at night, note down its registration number. Then use the mobile to call your family or friend and pass on the details to them in the language the driver understands .Even if no one answers your call, pretend you are in a conversation. The driver now knows someone has his details and he will be in serious trouble if anything goes wrong. He is now bound to take you home safe and sound. A potential attacker is now your de facto protector!

4}What if the driver turns into a street he is not supposed to – and you feel you are entering a danger zone?

Experts Say: Use the handle of your purse or your stole to wrap around his neck and pull him back. Within seconds, he will feel choked and helpless. In case you don’t have a purse or stole just pull him back by his collar. The top button of his shirt would then do the same trick.

5} If you are stalked at night.

Expert Say: enter a shop or a house and explain your predicament. If it is night and shops are not open, go inside an ATM box. ATM centers always have security guards. They are also monitored by close circuit television. Fearing identification, no one will dare attack you.

After all, being mentally alert is the greatest weapon you can ever have.

To live a secure & peaceful life is a right of everyone. Do share your thoughts, probably you may put down a solution,
